And it's those ridiculous inconsistencies that give my language a soul.

The problem with spelling reform is that pronunciation always changes. After a few generations you'd need to do it all over again

Pronunciation. Exactly the problem. A Bostonian's spelling is going to be vastly different from an Arkansas homeboy if they simply had spelled how they sounded...

Seen that my head is on the line: no, I don't hate the phrase "And then some." In fact, I'm quite sure I have been guilty of using it as several different occasions. Why do you hate it?

It does make sense. My feelings on it are neutral.

Does anyone aside from me love the phrase, "The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about"?
