Also, The Princess Bride was also very, very true to the book.
Tee hehe, do not get me started on "The Princess Bride", if we're thinking of the same one.

Inconseivable!

'Twas funny indeed. But it was also quite true to the book.

Stop rhyming now, I mean it!

Perhaps I should have said this differently. you don't beleive that PJ's Movies were anything like the books? Fine. So give anyother director a boxed set of LotR books and watch as he butchers them beyond recognition. PJ did a great job- and keep in mind- nothing is ever perfect.

It seems to me that it really matters whether or not the director really cares about preserving the book, or at least how much.
PJ did his best, yes, I do think that he loves the books probally more then some of us at the 'moot do, even though he did change some things and add in alot of CR. I am a little bit mad about the CM, and curiose to see who is next, but just think about it this way: would you rather have a LOTR movie with real charicters, changed from the book in places, and with CR, or no movie at all? I pick the first chouse. But, anyhow, back to the mane subject!

I honestly would rather have none at all. But then, I think it would be better to have a movie which stays true to the original work and isn't highest quality cinema than to have one which is untrue to the book and mangles the characters and has battl scenes and seamless CGI and great battle scenes and great battle scenes and...did I mention the battle scenes?

Well, about comic relief..I think it will stay Merry and Pippin w/ Gimli inserting funny lines now and then. To keep it funny..

even though gimli is a dwarf and he is supposed to be serious and tough i thought it was good that he was funny. i mean he has been hangin out with hobbits men wizards and especially elves, who were a big influence on him. i think in helms deep he was just trying to be optimistic and to cheer people up.i thought it was hilarious when he said he couldnt see and then legolas said "should i get u a box" and then gimli burst out laughing as if it was a challenge.
