The Mouth of Sauron. I just love that scene where he shows everyone Frodo's clothes and they all look terrified and then Gandalf insults him.

Yes the Mouth of Sauron was very cool, although he did have a small part. I hope there are many songs about him. *puts on Nightfall in ME*
But I like Grima also. I can't stand Saruman, and Grima is more foolish *recalls Obi Wan's words*, but he is cool in the end and then i feel sorry for him. So he gets my sympathy vote.

Yeah, Grima was just, sorta, I don't know, misguided lets say. Oh, and don't forget the Balrog!

Don't like any of the bad guys (unless you take Fëanor into account, but then I'm afraid I'm on the wrong forum ), if I have to mention one it would be Gollum.

You don't have to like them. They just have to be your favorite. You could always like to hate them

Gollum's my favorite villain, hands down. I admire the way Tolkien made him complex, and not just a simple demon. Gollum's inner struggles, the possibility of his redemption, his simple delight in fish, the backstory of his corruption, all of these easily make him one of my favorite characters, period, not just in LotR.

For LOTR it's Shelob.
(I like spiders ) Other books: Melkor and maybe Sauron. (At his old days. Somehow he lost his touch in LOTR.) From Falagar: Quote:

I also liked the Mouth of Sauron. His way of beating-around-the-bush was what I really liked. Feanor is evil |

If we're not limited to choosing only from The Lord of the Rings books, then a favorite bad "guy" of mine is Glaurung the Dragon. He was a mocking and derisive big nasty. He taunts Turin . . .
Quote:
Glaurung sacks Nargothrond, casts a spell on Turin (the walking disaster) and lets him go, then he throws all the orcs out of Nargothrond so that he can keep the treasure for himself, casts a forgetting spell on Nienor but lifts it so that Nienor realises that she is married to and pregnant by her own brother. If the bad guy has to be from LOTR, then I would go with the Mouth of Sauron. He was described like he was supposed to be scary but his interaction with Gandalf turned him into a buffoon. There's a whole thread of whether or not Feanor is evil - should pull it up sometime, it was pretty interesting.
Mine would have to be Gollum of course. I have a feeling that he would have redeemed himself if he'd had the chance. Poor guy. edit: aha. Here it is: http://entmoot.tolkientrail.com/show...ht=Feanor+Evil Last edited by Sheeana : 05-18-2003 at 06:11 PM. |
