Elves and Sleep

I was jsut trying to figure this out, but I can't, so I'll ask. I'm wondering about what elves do if they're up 24/7. I mean, in TTT, Tolkien says that Legolas slept while he was walking ("If sleep it could be called by men"). In the Hobbit, Bilbo sees the Elves in Mirkwood having a party or something late at night. And when Bilbo is in Rivendell (But it's called "The house of Elrond" in the Hobbit), the Elves are up singing all night and they wake him up.

So, what do Elves do at night? Party? Sing? Do they have a 24-hour society (Is Longs Drugs open at all hours there?)

I also wanted to know if Elves are more solitary than Men. Obviously they eat, so some Elves must grow the food. Then the others must trade them something valuable for it. Or is it a communist society where everyone does some of the work and everyone gets some of the product?

If anyone has any insight on Elven culture, it would be a great help to me. I am especially interested in the Elves of Mirkwood. They seem to be pretty isolated and, if you will, more backward than the others, as well as more rugged. Does the Sil say anything about this? I looked, but wasn't able to find anything. Thanks...

Course, Elves sleep. But, maybe they sleep only about once a week or month ect...

Rivendell has all these beds for no good reason?
Shame! Especially with Gondor and Rohan in constant need of non-tired men!
