Gandalf radagast

hey, who what where is radagast the brown, gandalf's 'close' friend, and why does he have no visible part to play in anything of the 3rd age? i havent bothered reading anything about the 2 earlier ages, as they are so damn monotonous, so excuse my ignorance if he is a big-wig wizard in these times.

The Wizards weren't around in the first two Ages; at least not in Middle-Earth proper, they were in Aman.

Radagast fell in love with the birds and beasts of Middle-Earth and fell away from the purpose of the Istari; to reunite the Free Peoples of Middle-Earth. He did do a few things; many think he was tied to all the aid that Gwaihir gave to Gandalf, and he delivered Saruman's message.

Radagast came with Gandalf, and as I know he was naive and not so smart (coompare to Gandalf and Saruman).

Indeed, with other words, Radagast didn't do his job. Only Gandalf did.

The days have gone down in the West behind the hills into shadow.

Who shall gather the smoke of the dead wood burning, or behold the flowing years from the Sea returning?

But at least he wasn't evil and worked with Saruman or Sauron.

But he didn't mean to do that to Gandalf. He is just so naive.

He was Saruman's tag-a-long. Yvanna wanted someone from her people to accompany Saruman (who was of Aule's). This explains why Saruman was dismissive. Check out UT for quotes.
