FREAK RAIN!!!!!!!! O.o

Queen of prolonged unexplained absences and long, loooong car rides.

Well, hullo everyone. As you can see, I don't hang out here muchly anymore. There's a good reason for this. Y'see, I've been hanging out at a different chatboard called Cardboardia. So far, I've been havin' a blast. Not that I don't love the TLA, but the magic of Entmoot is lost on me. So, as soon as TLA ends, so will my existance here, probably.

Who knows though? I might stay. Highly unlikely however. This is a good bye in advance, then. Unless you want to join me and my group of friends at Cardboardia.

Cheers!

At least 7500 years old by the time of LotR, maybe several centuries Older. Acting less mature and being unwed at the time of the revolt of the Noldor, she is not likely to have been more than a a few centuries old at that time.

Less mature than whom, Lefty? All but a tithe Rebelled against the Valar and left Tirion, as you know.

I don't think there could have been a significant age difference between Galadriel and Celeborn, at least by Elvish standards. At least, they lived during the same era and were of the same generation from the those three Lindarin brothers: Olwe, Elwe and Elmo. (Galadriel being Olwe's granddaughter and Celeborn being Elmo's grandson).

She, like several of the "young" princes, went not a a follower of lord, not as one convinced by Feanaro's great rhetoric, nor out of a sense of obligation to family and people like NoloFinwe, but to acquire adventures and realms.
As Tolkien was rewriting here, he add more of the "obligation to the people" motive to her, but that would in a a very back and forth mixed up state with no clear conclusion about her.
The desire to acquire dominium over peoples and lands appeared to die out in the more fully mature elves, with some notable exceptions like Feanor, at least by the time they got to be a millenia or so. after that point they were my interest in being steward like rulers and preseving, rather than creating polities and getting new subjects.

I think all of Fingolfin and Finarfin's children were very young at the time of the Exile and that would have meant high spirited. For example: Tolkien says in Unfinished Tales that Finrod:
Quote:
had the high courage of the Noldor and in his youth, their eagerness and unrest.
Now on Galadriel's maturity. Unfinished Tales says:
Quote:
when at last, all that she had desired in her youth came to her hand, the Ring of Power and the dominion of Middle-earth of which she had dreamed, that her wisdom was full grown and she rejected it, and passing the last test departed from Middle-earth for ever.
