I don't have my books with me here in Thailand, so I can't check myself. I was reading something MM wrote and he mentioned that it is never said Glorfindel left ME. So, I was trying to glean some info.

Checked the book: Gildor and "many fair Elven folk" rode to the havens with Elrond and Galadriel, but I don't see Glorfindel mentioned there specifically, just that "With them went many Elves of the High Kindred who would no longer stay in Middle-earth." "Many," not "all." In the Appendix, it's also said that Celeborn moved to Rivendell not long after Galadriel left and lived with the sons of Elrond for a while before departing Middle-earth, but again no mention of Glorfindel.

Why didn't Glorfindel leave Middle Earth at the end of the Third Age with the Ring-bearers? He was sent to aid Elrond and Gandalf and to help the inhabitants of ME in their struggles with Sauron. His mission was over - Sauron was vanquished and Elrond and Gandalf were leaving. It would only make sense that he leave as well.

Any thoughts?

Yes, Tolkiens 'Last Writings; HoME 12 tells us about Glorfindel being sent by the Valar.

I couldn't find it, but I remeber a text that said when Celeboren left Middle-Earth, that with him the last living memory of the Elder days left. If that is true (and in such things my memory seldom fails), that Glorfindel must have left before Celeborn or together with him.

Respectfully

Your memory does not fail you, Findegil. Here is the text:
Quote:
It is said that Celeborn went to dwell there after the departure of Galadriel; but there is no record of the day when at last he sought the Grey Havens, and with him went the last living memory of the Elder Days in Middle-earth.

No problem Fat Middle. I was kind of suprised by the force of the reply, but forgive and forget.

There was a discussion on the Xenite Forums and I got the quote from there.
