Mirkwood Elves or Lorien elves?

Which do you prefer? AND why?

For me it is Mirkwood. However, it is just an emotional attachment. I am currently unable to articulate this feeling into a coherent thought.

I've always been in love with Lothlorien, if there was one place in fiction that I could actually go to it would be there. It just seems so beautiful. From the singing water of the Nimrodel, to the silver and golden Mellyrn. I would go visit the Galadrim if I could!

Mirkwood, by far. I know it's supposed to be inhabited by giant spiders and whatnot, but Lothlorien always seemed so...sad.

personally i like the elves of Imladris better than both of them, but if i had to pick between the two id say mirkwood because if they are like legolas then they must be cool.

Legolas was the prince of the elves in Mirkwood - he had to be cool.

Lorien. The saddess of the place (at the time of the War of the Ring) attracts me. It seems to me that a place becomes greater if it's known greater sadnesses and joys, and you cannot have one without the other, so Lorien wins for me (heck, I've even written fanfic about it )

(did that post seem odd to anyone? Sorry, I'm in a strange mood)

Lets see..... Sloth_lorien where the elves sit on their thumbs and spin all day taking little interest in the affairs of the world unless their own Patooty is on the line?........ or Muckwood ....so pooolite to visitors?

I'll go with Rivendell...I LIKE agent smith as elrond, at least he comes off as male....not like the girly boyz of the golden wood or that little snot legomania....

Wow, that was one of the worst insights into the Elves of the Lord of the Rings I've ever read.

Slothlorien? Open up the Appendices or something, they fought in the War of the Ring. Not all the battles were in Rohan and Gondor. The Elvenking of the Woodland Realm certainly was suspicious of visitors and trespassers, I'll give you that.

And what has Agent Smith got to do with Tolkien's Elrond? But as for the movie, I've never seen a character further from Wise Master Elrond Half-elven, master of lore. Peter Jackson's Elrond was a rude, ignorant, racist, apt to frowning and scowling. He wasn't Elrond, he was Agent Smith. If you prefer that unpleasant person to Legolas, I don't trust your judgment at all. Anyway this is a forum dedicated to the books. Half of your post should suffer from a sudden attack of a large ill-favored creature's bowel movements.

Boy am I glad I'm not an Ent anymore.

You are right about the movie Elrond, Nolendil. Anyway, I like the elves of Lothlorien. Probably because of Galadriel, I would love to talk to her about Valinor, Feanor, the Valar and all she has been through. The Mirkwood elves were not very nice to Bilbo and the dwarves in The Hobbit.
