This is sad. He was a great author. I feel bad for his wife.

The time came for him to wake from the dream, but its still sad to think that such a great author had to pass on

Nooooooooo. I thought he was getting better!!!!!

That is so sad... Wheel of Time is... wow... I mean, it was my first really EPIC fantasy series that I -really- got into aside from LotR. I mean... gosh, I spent about 5 years of my life being totally addicted to those books, and playing a MUD based on them, and doing forum RPGs, and... wow.

That's really sad :-/.

Well, crap.

58 just is too young. Sad news indeed.

Sad too that he didn't manage to see the end of his Wheel of Time series. Such an epic series deserves an end. I hope maybe someone can be found who can finish it by his notes.

It's very sad, and he will be missed.

On the series, about a year or so back, when he was first diagnosed, he said he was making plans for the series' completion if he wasn't able to finish.

So the guy had a plan to help readers finish, even if he died before he could expand the universe more. Very thoughtful to his fans. Unlike some authors I know of...

I gave up on the series after A Crown of Swords and had no intention of ever going back, but I was really hoping he'd make it. Shame, really.

My thoughts are here.

I read all the Wheel of Time books at once - I was a bit disappointed by the last few, but after reading all eleven, I was hoping to see the end of it. I'm glad he kept some method for us to find out what happens at the end even if something happened to him... When my friend told me he was dead, I checked the news items and found nothing... so I thought he hadn't died, and it was just a rumour. Now I'm sad all over again.
