It's wrong to change the story for film, but what about Fan Fiction?

Indeed.

But the change in the Arwen character didn't bother me too much either (at least in that scene alone). She is practically a non-character in the books, and you needed to give her at least a bit of screen time and purpose to develop her relationship with Aragorn.

And that is why I contend that they should have done some flashbacks with the appendix stuff when Aragorn first meets dear Arwen, and the ensuing stuff with Elrond and Aragorn.

LOL; Anthony Daniels?? Now that would be funny! Don'tcha love in Ep. 3 when he's like: "Oh, do you like it? I made it myself." *dies laughing*
