Empire Awards
Ok, FotR won the Following at Great Britian's Empire awards:
Best Film Best Debut - Orlando Bloom Best Actor - Elijah Wood And Christopher Lee also won a Lifetime Achievement Award, which was given to him by Ian McKellen. Looks like Peter Jackson and company will do very well at the Oscars this year.

The awards are voted by readers of Empire Magazine, (except Lifetime Achievement) so it isn't a good predictor of the Oscars. Orlando Bloom and Eljah Wood won those awards for all the wrong reasons.

I am of the opinion that FotR should do well at the Oscars. I have seen many movies this past year most of which I liked. But none of them did I go back and see again. (I'll probably have to rent Mulholland Drive ). the buzz surrounding FotR is very consistant. What will all this mean when the votes are tallied? I am not sure, but it's fun to keep score!
Btw I was unaware that the Empire Awards were voted upon by its' readers. So CBG, you feel that Wood and Bloom received a heavy female vote then?

I think they did. Although they both are very good actors, that wasn't the main reason why they won, in my opinion.
