Strider Changing Names

Why, in LOTR, in "The Breaking Of The Fellowship", does Aragorn change his name temporarily?

"Sam did his best, but could not keep up with Strider the Ranger, and soon fell behind. He had not gone far before Aragorn was out of sight ahead."

It isn't like he was using a new name or anything. Both names are apropriate. Sam knew him better by the name Strider, so that is why that name is still used. The rest of the company would have known him by Aragorn. Since both names have already been introduced, the author can switch freely between them. Think of it as putting a bit of variety in.

Strider = the Personality = who knows the woods/roads/Rohan feilds, when they're gonna go hunting the Orcs. Because hes a ranger, this is his side of personality that Frodo and the hobbits know best, untill later on in the storys.

Aragorn = the Personality = the nobalman, the King, the Air to the Throwne. More of a leader of Men, than a leader of a small rabble of people.

I agree with Twilight. Sam always called him Strider, even at the Fields of Cormellen after the Ring was destroyed. Its just variety and how Sam knows him.

Also, Strider was called Strider because for the speed at which he could travel. It is saying basicly that Sam could not keep up with someone who had traveled so far and could travel so quickly that he was named Strider.
