Glorfindel is Da Man or The Mystique of a Noldar Lord

What is it that makes Glorfindel SOO damn cool?

Even before I knew he slew a Balrog, I thought he was one of the coolest characters in the book.

He just seems to ooze nobility.

What are your thoughts on G.

true, i like Glorfindel cos it takes something in a person(elf) to slay a balrog.

actaully, there also is another Glorfindel in the LOTR triology too right? He's kind of cool too

Um, isn't the LoTR Glorfindel the reincarnation of the Tale of Tuor Glorfindel? (i.e. same person)

Yes. Glorfindel was reinbodied.

Thats what I meant I when I said I that thought he was a great character BEFORE I knew he slew a balrog.

After I learned of that heroic deed, it just cemented him as a noble character.

Yes, both Glorfindels are one in the same. I wonder what line Glorfindel was from. He was an Elf of Gondolin, so is he of the House of Fingolfin? I thought he had golden hair though, and may be of the House of Finarfin, but why then wouldn't he be in Nargothrond instead of Gondolin?

Glorfindel was of the House of the Golden Flower. I recently learned from Michael Martinez in another thread (or site?) this is a remnant from Lost Tales, when many Elven houses were named in fashion.

Cool!
What would you name your house if you had the chance, Sister?
