That's certainly what I was fearing.
I have read in several articles that
Pelennor battle takes up fully one-third of the film.
And don't forget about
the battle at the Black Gate.
Almost all of the film is going to be battle scenes. Which makes me wonder why some potentially great action scenes, such as
Gandalf's confrontation with the Witch King
, are not going to be included? (I have read that in several "major spoilers" articles here and there, so it may or may not be true...)

I'm not surprised though. So when do we start gathering the lynch mob?

Well, I already have my tickets for the 17th, so I'm going to play 'wait and see.' I'm free on the 18th, though...

I have another ROTK spoiler for ya all:

Denethor sets himself on fire, but instead of burning on the pyre, he runs out of the citadel and into a river. I'll leave it up to JD to comment on that.

Hmmmmmmmm. Let me put it this way - do I kill Jackson now - or later? Can anyone say overblown action?

So, does that imply
Faramir is not attacked by Nazgul, does not almost die, and is not almost burned alive by Denethor and saved at the last minute by Pippin, Beregond, and Gandalf?

Damn.

In case you're wondering where I'm getting all these spoilers, I have some friends who have been lucky enough to watch some early screenings of the ROTK.

About Faramir:
he is attacked and dragged into the city by a horse.

Heavy Spoilers

Arwen apparently rides to the Havens with the other elves -- she has decided to leave Middle-earth -- but has a vision of an elf child and knows it's hers because it has the Evenstar. So she goes back to Rivendell. ???

Aragorn meets Elrond and Elrond TELLS him to take the Paths of the Dead. ???

At some point during the Frodo/Shelob scene, Frodo and Gollum fight, and Frodo pushes Gollum of a cliff! ???

And lastly the Grey Havens. Gandalf rides with Bilbo in a cart, and the four hobbits travel to the Havens. Gandalf says it's time to go and Frodo gives Sam the books, kisses him on the head and gets on the ship and smiles.

??? is indicative of me swearing and wanting to do bad things to PJ.

Well, I've found out what happens regarding the palantir.

Pippin finds it in the waters of Isengard and goes and picks it up. Saruman and Grima are not at all in the movie. So Saruman just lets his precious palantir float away. Yeah, right.

I've read lots of very detailed reviews of the movie, and while I'm very disapointed at many scenes -- especially many Sam and Frodo scenes -- I think I will enjoy the movie. It could have been better, but it's too late now.

That's almost as in the book, it is just a direct communication instead of a messenger between them.

Hadn't heard of the Frodo/Gollum thing before, it doesn't sound good.

I agree it is somewhat like the book, but from what I recall Elrond only says via his sons to remember the Paths of the Dead -- not actually telling him to go. I suppose it's not as bad as other changes.

Isn't there some random pointless scene in TTT where Arwen is riding away, right before the battle of Helm's deep.
