Although disabled for regular members, is it possible for admins to post a poll?

I was thinking this would be an amusing poll in the LOTR: Movies forum:

How many ppl thought that Uruk at Helms' Deep looked like an Olympic Torch bearer?

Blackboar, poll is like.... a survey. When you want to know the opinion of a certain group of people, or just when you want to know what other people think...

In the context of a messageboard, a poll is a special post that allows members to choose answers to questions, then they and other members can view the results, usually in the form of a bar graph.

Because some ppl have a tendency to post useless polls all over the place, this feature is often disabled entirely, or enabled only in certain forums.

In another forum I visit, it's enabled only for General Messages. If a poll isn't useless, and is also on-topic to another forum, the admin will move it there.

So bassically what you all are saying is that I want to start a poll, I have to put it in the general messages forum, and hope that it is not deemed pointless. And then hope that an administrater will move it to the movies forum, or the forum that it would fit in the most??? hmmm.... sounds a little fishy to me...

I gave that as an example of how polls are handled on another forum I visit.

Oh, probably the first few would be fun. But once you get around Poll #30, things get tired. The polls just get sillier and more inane as time goes on. I've seen entire boards overrun by pointless polls.

My main problem with them is that a poll can potentially occur without any discussion whatsoever. Someone can just create it, and people can "silently" vote. This defeats the whole purpose of a messageboard, which is to discuss things. Without the poll feature, users are encouraged to put a little more time, thought, and creativity into their posts, which results in a better experience for everyone.
