If the made the LOTR into a long tv-series would it be complete?

I been thinking about this concept a little. Do you think that if they made the trilogy into a long tv-series would they be able to do it without cutting any scenes.

Yes I think they would be able to do so, but I don't think they would have done it (that is, making it without any changes).

LOTR: The Series

You know how you always see these rubbish 'hercules' and not what series ( namely on channel 5 for all those that live in britain lol ). Anways, im prolly 100% this kinda thread has been done, but i can't see it recently so it can't hurt can it? lol.

Anyways, what kinda things do you think would be in it? Just the appendices? and more importantly, more c-grade actors would star it in? lol

You mean make a TV series out of it? *shudder* LotR is way too commercial already.

Btw, if you think a thread has been done, you can check by searching for it.

A TV series would allow more time to tell the complete story, but there's no way they could have enough money to cover the effects. Just one example: after seeing CGI Gollum, it'd be awful to go to something cheap.

they'd also have to compromise the story much more than jackson did... they'd want climactic action for each commerial break... and some kind of bigger climax at the end of each episode

i think of some of stephen king's tv series, which were mediocre at best compared to the books, and they were made with plenty of money and the author directly involved... commercial tv just doesn't work for long dramatic epics

What /might/ work would be six episodes, since that is how Tolkien wrote the story, and how the action flows (note that each book ends with hook to get you to read the next).

I've said since the beginning that I think six two hour episodes would be the way to go. The only problem would be what to call them.

Hurrah for Wayfarer! Someone who agrees with me! Ever since I heard they were making a trilogy, I've been asying they should make 6 2-hr. episodes instead of 3 3-hour ones.... YEAH!!!! I'm not completely nuts... or maybe I am and you are too... hmmm.

Personally i think it would be better if a series was made of the Appedices and not what of LoTR. We've already scene the main story. Or even refer to some of Tolkeins note that were never published.
