Censorship

I just wanted to start a thread about censorship... what do you think about it?

Ha ha ha: look, this board can be accessed, legally, by anyone. That thread you started could have gone either way, it could have been alright, but then it could not have been. I really didn't wanna take the chance: after all, I don't see any way an INTELLIGENT conversation could arrise in that topic

I wanted to talk about censorship... what are you talking about now? Closing threads?



One thing I hate, Our local music channel (on TV I mean), they cuts song and add silence to replace bad words... And when they make a CD compil, they still use these cut versions.

Same for the TV channels. They cut some parts of movies. They cut the mutant girl in total recall last week.

I am completly opposed to censorship in any way, shape, or form. Of course my views on it are largley shaped by the books: Farenheight 450, 1984 ,and The Day They Came to Arrest the Book.

I strongly believe in freedom of speech. 'nuff said.

It's 451, not 450. I'm against censorship, but there are limits to everything. This place needs to be censored because of who it's opened to, and because we have set rules we must follow them (looseley ). This ain't no democracy, or even a republic

What is all of this about? Tater closing Shan's thread about the girls in Quebec? Where do you think that thread would have ended up? Do you think that mainstream networks censor television because they won't show programming such as HBO's The Sopranos and Sex and the City? This board has always been PG rated, there are members here that are younger than 13. If you want to go and talk about girls or guys in a way that would certainly lead to (at the least) innuendo, then go to a board such as Greg's or IP's board which allow just about anthing.

Is there censorship at this board? Most definitely. Are we trying to censor other boards across the web? No.

So stop putting people on trial please.

Anduin's right. I'm just doing my job, as I said before (and a hearty shut up to JL ). If you go to greg's board (link in my sig) you'll see me letting this stuff go, because that's how that board is.
