Ah caught you smiling at me, That's the way it should be,
Like a leaf is to a tree, so fine.
Ah all the good times we had, I sang love songs so glad
Always smiling, never sad, so fine.
As we walk down the country lanes, I'll be singing a song,
Hear me calling your name.
Hear the wind within the trees, Telling Mother Nature 'bout you and me.

"Yeah.And Grizzly Adams had a beard."

'Grizzly Adams did have a beard."

Look in the back of the book.

The Silmarillion - Notes on Pronunciation.
Quote:
E - at the end of words is always pronounced as a distinct vowel, and in this position is written e(I have no idea how to put the dots above it). It is likewise always pronounced in the middle of words like Celeborn, Menegroth.

In this place will I abide, and my heirs, unto the ending of the world.'

'Then Tuor arrayed himself in the hauberk, and set the helm upon his head, and he girt himself with the sword; black were sheath and belt with clasps of silver. Thus armed he went forth from Turgon's hall, and stood upon the high terraces of Taras in the red light of the sun. None were there to see him, as he gazed westward, gleaming in silver and gold, and he knew not that in that hour he appeared as one of the Mighty of the West, and fit to be father of the kings of the Kings of Men beyond the Sea, as it was indeed his doom to be; but in the taking of those arms a change came upon Tuor son of Huor, and his heart grew great within him. And as he stepped down from the doors the swans did him reverence, and plucking each a great feather from their wings they proffered them to him, laying their long necks upon the stone before his feet; and he took the seven feathers and set them in the crest of his helm, and straightway the swans arose and flew north in the sunset, and Tuor saw them no more.' -Of Tuor and his Coming to Gondolin

Unlike in English, the last 'e' of a word is pronounced in Quenya.

The Mines of Moria had been a mere name; and of Lothlórien no word had reached my mortal ears till I came there. There is a section called "Note on Pronunciation" in the back of the following books:
The Silmarillion
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (Appendix E)

I am not aware of any pronunciation help in any of the other books, but I don't own all of them. You can also go to www.ardalambion.com for "The tongues of Arda". There is a tutorial for Quenya and Sindarin, as well as other languages of ME.

manwe = man-way
ingwe = ing-way
finwe = fin-way

That's always how I've pronounced them, plus, check out the notes on pronounciation (they say to pronounce the 'e').

I've always thought it's pronounce as :
Manve, Ingve and Finve. IN Hebrew you can't know if it's v or w, because there is no letter for 'w', and the inveters of the hebrew language had to pronounce this letter somehow. They chose the letter that says 'v' too... that what I tought until I saw the English names.

I say it like that too. I always have trouble with Earendil and Earnil and Earwen though

Manwë is not pronounced like english "-way". The ë should be pronounced. Everything is pronounced like it's written in Quenya, and it should (I think) be pronounced like "Manve[h]". I think (but I'm not sure...) that the w in earlier Quenya later became v...

Got that from the Encylopedia of Arda
This is how I have always heard them pronounced.

Elvedans I listened to the movie in the part where Galadriel in giving Frodo the Phial, she says 'This is the light of Earendil, our most beloved star'. It's hard to catch but I finally got it.

Not "v"... it is pronounced with a "w" not changed to v. *puts head in hands* I'm not sure if this will help, but I'm going to try...
make an open pucker with mouth but with the lower lip slightly protruded, like you're going to say oooooh... now try to make an "H" sound with an "ooooo" after it. That is a "W" sound. It's Man-Weh, not Man-Veh.

The "e" has the little dots over it to remind you to pronounce it. It is and "e" as in the English word "end" like -eh.

Yeah, she says it like "Air-rendil" but you can't always trust the movie can you? I thought it was more like "Ay-arendil" or "Ee-arendil." What about Ea on its own, as in the sea?

I hear it a little different. I don't know.
I say Eh-ah-ren-dil, Earendil
Like Eh-o-wyn, Eowyn
If I'm not right, o well, I like the way it sounds. I will give credit to the movie, they did search out for someone who know it really good.

The E at the beginning of Eowyn and Eomer is the same that I use at the end of Manwe.

The "eh" and "ah" are supposed to be pronounced separately, like you have it. Like Eh-ah-rehn-dil. I think that in the movie it is actually mispronounced (Cate Blanchett, but not here fault, after all she is only an actress).

if they're pronouncing Airendil, they're misspronouncing it.

the pronunciation of both sindar and quenya is very close to Spanish (and most latin languages).

man-way, ing-way... it's also incorrect.

Dunedain and Melko Belcha put the right pronunciations, but have in mind that the "h" doesn't sound.
