He was rumored to have married his gay lover last year, but it looks like Sir Ian has grown bored of the rings. The veteran English actor says he has split from his boyfriend, 23-year old male model Nick Cuthell. Sir Ian (known in gay circles as Serena) made a splash at last year's Oscars by holding hands with the Kiwi cutie. But the couple were plagued by rumors that Cuthell was (gasp!) dating women on the side. " I met him in the street in New Zealand and brought him back," McKellen, 63, told London's Sunday Times. "But that's ufortunately come to an end. It was another attempt to get in contact with real life. It didn't continue and there are reasons why it shouldn't." McKellen will have more trouble from gifted youngsters on screen. In May he returns as the evil Magneto in "X-Men 2."

no it doesnt work that way as far as i see it... people just go over board with all this gay prejudice stuff... i dont think anyone really cares concerning the fact that he's gay but marrying someone 40 years younger is pretty odd.
