Batman vs. Superman

For years this friendly debate has been recurring between my brother, my dad, and I. I've always been a Batman fan, but my brother and dad claim Superman is way better. But I wonder: what do the 'mooters think?

Batman is certainly the more intelligent.

The only head-on encounter I can remember between them was in the graphic novel A Death in the Family.

Superman wanted to stop Batman from attacking a certain person so Batman simply built a device that covered him in an infra-red light, if the light were broken by Superman (or any creature able to replicate Superman's DNA) then a bomb would be triggered and an innocent, Albert, would be killed. Superman was helpless to stop Batman

Batman, of course, was lying about the bomb

Oh come on. Batman kicks Supermans hiney all over the pavement. Superman is so caught up in his silly patriotism that he sometimes misses what's right under his nose. Batman all the way, baby. Read 'Dark Knight Returns'. Superman gets his butt kicked.

Superman is good when his powers aren't played up so as to make him seem invincible. Batman is, I think, a more versatile character. I like them both.

Actually there's a movie coming out fairly soon : Batman vs. Superman. I think its a stupid idea for a movie, but I'd pick Superman over Batman anyday. I mean, Batman has the batmobile and all, but superman can run faster than it.... Plus, Superman has the x-ray vision...nobody can beat the x-ray vision!

Yes but Batman knows all Supe's vulverabilities, Green kryptonite, Red Kryptonite, light from a red sun etc etc......and he has the brains to use them to best effect...........Superman, sadly,has far too many morals and hangups to effectively beat Batman (see earlier post for example).

X-ray vision is easily beaten, just get a bat-device that makes you invisible (I'm sure one must exist)

Yeah, I heard that too. And if they do that, then the movie is dead before it's even begun.

However, it sounds like it was inspired by Dark Knight returns, so it *may* actually be a decent movie.

Superman may be able to turn back time, but Batman is smart enough to be able to prevent Superman from even attempting it.

Personally, I feel that a battle between them could go either way depending on its type. If it's short term, Superman would easily win through his various physical advantages (I sincerely doubt that the batarangs would do much good to a guy which bullets don't hurt), but if it was long term, Batman could win after excessive planning. Still, Batman is the cooler hero.

Seriously, all the B-man needs is a good shard of Kryptonite and that big old geek couldn't even touch him. I think with all the money and connections Bruce Wayne accumulated over the years (self-made, mind you), a little sliver shouldn't be that hard to find.

And as far as non-physical attributes, Batman has way more style. Superman is just a goofy nerd who was born with all his wonderful abilities.

All superman needs to do is this: turn back time on a whim. Since the past is now the present, Batman's "plans" would be even less developed than they were at the time of superman's whim.

Also, Superman seems to always be at the right place at the right time. Therefore, he can easily locate Batman, and promptly pulverise him.

Oh, and Batman is such an idiot that he can't even fly.

And it just so happens that Batman's helper (yes, Batman needs a helper

) is his boyfriend.

Don't get me wrong. Superman does look like an idiot with his underwear over his pants. Still, nobody in their right mind would drive a car as ugly as the batmobile.

When Batman can get bullets to bounce of him without flinching, when Batman can run as fast as.....a speeding bullet (?), when Batman can catch falling helicopters, planes and buildings, without being crushed like a christmas beetle under my shoe, when Batman can actually fly, and not rely on stupid, immature cables, indeed, when Batman finds a way to turn back time, then, and only then will we have a fair competition.

And Batman has a stupid mask, too.
