"The White Mountains" by (???) Christopher?

Has anyone else read these books? I think htey got a Caldecott Medal or something back in the seventies and I'm not even sure if they are still being printed.

It was a series about some alien race who invaded earth, some pyramid-shaped behemoths who ended up adopting humans as pets.

Anyone else familiar with these books?

I read these ages and ages ago and can't recall the titles. I do recall enjoying them very much. Christopher is an excellent storyteller. I also enjoyed reading "No Blade of Grass," a novel for older readers.
