Varda was the wife of Manwe, the head Vala. She was also known as Elbereth in Lord of the Rings. She was the maker of the stars.

In the index of the Silmarillion, it refers to this as a ME version of the constellation of Orion.

This of course was made and set in the sky by Varda, the wife of Manwe, highest ranked female Ainur.
