Is there a name for this?
Is there a name for when you drink an extremely cold beverage and your brain freezes up for several moments?

I've never gotten brainfreeze from a cold drink - but I have from eating ice cream too fast. I don't have a lot of ice in my drinks though - actually only one ice cube in iced tea and I prefer none in soda. When my adult teeth were coming in they were really sensitive and having ice really hurt (especially when eating hot New Jersey Pizza). So I stopped having ice in my drinks. What kind of cold drink gives you brainfreeze - does it have to have ice?

Basically any kind of cold drink can give you brainfreeze, especially if you drink it through a straw. Have you guys seen the 7-11 commercial about the guy with the slurpee and the Coca-Cola? It's funny.

Brainfreeze neutralizes headaches. Good tip to know.
I've had those things since I was a baby and they always called them brainfreezes, so I call them that too. I get them 99% of the time from slurpies/slushies/icies (whatever you may call them - they have a thousand names almost). Last edited by Rána Eressëa : 08-12-2002 at 08:30 PM. |

If it wan't for A-E we'd hardly have any new threads. I think his threads are fun, and some of them are really quite good.
