lesser elves vs greater elves

The Calaquendi by living in Aman had greater innate power than the Moriquendi.

but what about the sindar vs the silvan and avari.

I got the imppression that the sindar were "tutored" by melian in Doraith, and Ulmo/ and Osse in the Falas. thus having some of the west imparted into them

am I off base in this perception?

I think that was about the naming of grey elves. I thought it meant that were twilight between the calaquendi and the avari.

There were three Kinslayings, all of them involving the Fëanorians, as Archbob said.

There were however small individual incidents of strife and murder, though rare, and what was not rare was racism between certain different kinds of Elves.
