my friend hates hoobits!!!!

she hates sam 'cause she loves gullom, and he doesn't count as a hobbit cause he's just freaky. she has never felt bad for a hobbit in all of the two towers! she never feels bad for them in the movie! she never felt bad for merry or pippin when they where whith the orcs, she never even felt bad for pippin after he looked into the palìter (sp?)!!!!! she feels bad for gollum when nothing really bad ever happens to him (well exept at the part with farmir)! she feels more bad for link, a guy in a vidio game, then she feels bad for hobbits! Link isn't even real and if so many ppl say frodo lives, then he must

!please tell mne that she's is insane not to like hobbits! she's finished ttt and still doesn't feel doesn't feel bad for sam!

We pitied Gollum who was a victim of circumstance, and that pity saved Middle Earth. Gollum unwittingly destroyed the ring, so I can understand a certain sympathy for the poor wretch.

However, she hates hobbits?

I don't hate Hobbits but when i read LOTR I skip over the parts with sam and frodo after the breaking of the fellowship save were they met faramir.

I found the other members of the fellowship more interesting to me.

Hobbits are okay, only there is just a little too much material about them. They seem too obvious somehow...sometimes. But they don't leave the sense of awe and wonder in my head which I get from reading about elves or even men. Maybe it's just me, though.

The other races are too complicated for me.
Hobbits are straight-forward.
Opposite to Afro-elf and Tar-Elendil, i usually skip the parts that concern men/elves/dwarves and read the hobbit parts in more detail.

actually I tind that all the races play an equally important part in the books Yes I personally am more inspired by the elves and men, but hobbits add something to the story. it just wouldn't be the same without them they are sort of the voice of comfort and warm meals and I believe they show how you can truly rise to an occasion ...ummm...I'll get off my soapbox now

well i re-read the chapters with merry and pippin and frodo and sam, but chapters such as "the riders of rohan" and "the white rider" don't catch my attion just because they seem to be lacking a sertant something, hobbits.

I can't see how anyone can hate hobbits yet still enjoy reading LOTR! After all, the essence of the story is good triumphing over evil against impossible odds and a *small* person (i.e. a hobbit) changing the course of the future.

Can't understand your friend! Nothing to dislike about hobbits in my view!

Yeah that is very true! Frodo/Sam? gollum parts are my favourite parts followed by the merry/pippin parts.
