Unveiled secret
new picture: www.theonering.net/movie/.../large/708
it's just me, or is there a woman riding, hair to the wind, with a hobbit behind in the first row of the Rohirrim? too little time to develop Eowyn's story? too little time to develop Merry's story? this is no good, i think. |

Re: Unveiled secret
that pic was kind of blurry - couldn't ID Eowyn or Merry. but if PJ & co. are cutting their little masquerade, it wouldn't surprise me too much - after all, they did cut Bombadil & ruin Arwen.

Re: Unveiled secret
aryne, in the group of four riders in the front, the rider on the far left, just under the camera, looks like a woman with a smaller rider behind her. Impossible to tell who the actress is; it's likely a stunt double anyway.

Re: Unveiled secret
I can't really tell. All the Rohirrim had long hair anyways. And they would have large packs with them on the way to battle. But what astounds me is that none of the forward line of Riders have any helms on! They must be eager to get an Orc arrow to the face!

Re: Unveiled secret
i've read somewhere that the extras are using only dark horses. the white ones are reserved for some of the main characters (Gandalf, Theoden...) or their stunt(wo)men. This one rides a white horse, ergo (s)he's one of the main characters.
GAR: it may be a large pack, but why would (s)he put a cloak on it |

Re: Unveiled secret
they don't have any helms on because it's a MOVIE SPECTACULAR! made for MODERN MOVIE AUDIENCES! they couldn't even recpgnize any of the actors without seeing them clearly! and besides, why make sense (or follow the author's wishes...) when you can make MONEY off of IDIOTS!

Re: Unveiled secret
That's not necessarily anything like a shot from the film that will be seen anyway. It's just a photo of them in costume on set - possibly not in full costume, due to the absence of helms.

I will try in the next day or two to do a tighter zoom and enhancement. (I've been fantastically busy lately!)

Re: Adobe PhotoDeluxe Home Edition
The rider just aside of the helmed pack seems to be Theoden. If so, then it must be the scene just before the Nazgul King.

Re: Adobe PhotoDeluxe Home Edition
The rider with the hobbit is probably Legolas.
In the movie he has long hair and as far as I know one of the hobbits remained with Legolas, Gimli and aragorn in the battle of helm's deep and stuff. |

Re: Adobe PhotoDeluxe Home Edition
No hobbits were present at Helm's Deep. Sam and Frodo were going to Mordor and Merry and Pippin were with the Ents at Isengard during the Battle of Helm's Deep. The actor playing Legolas doesn't have blonde hair.

Re: Adobe PhotoDeluxe Home Edition
I'm afraid the rider does look feminine. Not like Theoden at all! I also do not remember Merry riding with Theoden. He had his own pony. He later rode with Eowyn/Dernhelm.
This means that the original surmise of this thread may be correct, that we have an example of a rewrite before our eyes, since there is no scene where Eowyn rides unhelmed with Merry and at the forefront of the Riders with the standard. The two white horses suggest Eowyn and Theoden. Or that this was not actually filmed and what we have here is a random shot. (Doubtful) Or that they deliberately staged this to drive us mad mad mad I tell you! |

Re: Adobe PhotoDeluxe Home Edition
Could it possibly be Legolas and Gimli? They rode together on one horse after Helm's Deep.

Re: Adobe PhotoDeluxe Home Edition
That is definetly, without a doubt Legolas and Gimli.
The outfit is the same one we see Legolas wearing in the newer pics and in the movies Legolas has blond hair (as he rightly should). Plus, the other person is too tall and stout to be a Hobbit -- and the Hobbits didn't use helmets, I don't think. Yep. 100% Legolas and Gimli -- that makes this a cool pic! |

Re: Adobe PhotoDeluxe Home Edition
well, Leonides, Gilthalion made a marvellous work with his Adobe Photoshop, but even so i wouldn't adventure a guess about the outfit of that rider.
...but perhaps it's only a problem of my old monitor <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/ohwell.gif ALT=":\"> and the hobbits in the movies dont't seen to be very short... |
