Arwen Undomiel looking waaay too far ahead

I know im looking waay too far ahead here but how are they going to do the scenes after the Ring is destroyed? are they really going to show frodo with his finger missing? i would think that that would be too graphic to make the movies pg-13,unless it was taken out too:
thoughts, opinions anyone?

Probably they'll show that, he knows we'd kill him if he didn't. They'll have him recover in Minas Tirith, and probably then some tear-jerking ending scene. I don't know about the missing finger, I hope they don't up the rating.

I don't know how it'll rate there but I don't find a missing finger too much for kids.

I mean there are people born without fingers and even whole arms and legs.

Well in FotR they showed Orcs getting their heads lobbed off so I think people can cope with a bitten off finger that will probably be bandaged for most of the time anyway.

Exactly. Very well said. A lost finger is nothing compared to a lost head

Yeah, but we would need a close-up of the finger, whereas not of the head. And people born without fingers don't have blood and glop dripping out of a wound.

Again. . .

We'll just have to wait to find out

I don't think just losing a finger would up the rating. That in addition to lots of other stuff might, though.

I think that the last scene in Mordor (in the book)is the most touching scene next to the Ithilien Rabbit stew scene, the Cirith Ungol scene, the aftermaths of Shelob scene, and the Grey Havens scene. I dont think that the finger hsould be a problem. Sam sees the blood, grabs his master shand, tears a bit off his shirt or something and wraps it aorund his hand, or covers his hand in his own and just a little bit seeps through.
I forgot to mention. When someones fingers are cut off they swath ALL of the persons hand in bandages and splints and all that. Then they take em off a few weeks or months after and there's only a bit of scabbing. So I dont think that the missing finger will be a problem. What happens to Frodo as the quest goes on is what worries ME. I mean it'll be heart breaking. :*( Poor Frodo.
Sam

I'm sure they can make the missing finger scene acceptable and not too gory, through editing and other such movie tricks.

Relating this to another thread I posted, Will it be the pointy finger, the middle finger, or the ring finger?

Not really, but it would be interesting how it will be done in the film.

Yes, it will. But, like everything else in the next two movies, we'll have to wait to find out. Darn.

Arwen Undomiel

now the interesting question is....which finger wil gollum bite off? in the movie he always wore the ring on his index, first, fnger closest to the thumb whatever you want to call it finger, didn't he?

i can see PJ doing this scene either really well and not gory, or make it gory and scary...who knows?

That is an imporntant scene. A lot of things could go wrong, like it being too gorey or just plain not being good at all. I think they can really quickly show it getting cut off, then have it covered up almost immediatly. It would stay bandaged until it was healed to a more normal looking state.

You might refer to the thread Arathorn pointed out a few posts back. It discusses this very question.

Luthien. That's even scarier.
