The death of Sharkey
With all the speculation of Peter Jackson changing the way in which Saruman comes to an end,I often wonder if Gandalf really knew that Saruman would face the Hobbits.I read speculation that he knew that this would define the character of Hobbits,if they killed him,and let him escape Orthanc. I wonder if Tolkien wasn't trying to convey another message,in that if you don't take care of those that once were harmful, but now seem harmless,it will come back to bite you?It just seems in light of today's World events, that this might prove to be a powerful lesson, that was played out in a book that is 47 yrs. old.I haven't ever read what Tolkien's true intentions were on this, and I hope P. Jackson keeps it like the book,I read on a post where Orlando Bloom inicates it stays close to the book, but he never elaborated.
