Those crazy inscribed ring-things

I was wondering how everyone feels about the radically overpriced inscribed gold rings you can buy. I have always felt that the're needless, because the writing only shows in the fire anyway, so any ring will do for "your own one ring". My one ring is a ten dollar, fourteen carat gold thing from Ames (or was it Kmart?). But I suppose the inscription might appeal to some people.

(I'd also like to know who's obsessed enough to have a one ring)

I would actually like one of the 'better' rings, but I can't afford one...I suppose they're for rich fanatics! With the fire thing, yeah, I agree, but you can't exactly put a normal ring in the fire to see unexistant inscriptions. So I guess the inscription makes them "one rings" instead of "normal" ones.
