Gimli how close do you feel the movie came to the book

With the exception of a few things (mostly removing Tom Bombadil from the movie-which I understand was mostly due to time constraints on the movie) I think that Mr. Jackson did a mighty fine job of translating Tolkien to the silver screen. The phasing out of Glorfindel to give Arwen more screen time was a dissappointment also. Give me your collective thoughts on this.

DEATH TO ARWEN!!!
I hate to say this, cameronkendrick, but there are a lot of other threads like this one out there. Oh well, that never stopped me . . .
I think that PJ did indeed do a wonderful job . . . er . . . . ok, that sums up my opinion.

It had very few real flaws.

However, those few flaws were absolutely horrible.

I thought that the Change for the Watcher In The Water was terrible. Frodo reminded me of a screaming salt shaker. I also didn't like the Galadriel freaks out scene she reminded me of an Opera Woman. I expected Frodo to start singing Figaro or the Phantom of the Opera. But all in all I thought it was VERY close to the book. Exept for Maybe Merry and Pippins personalities which I find QUITE humourous and alot like I invision them.

I believe there are plenty of threads to argue about Arwens and Bombadils Adaptation, which this thread is destined to be.
