Middle Earth.......Pangaea?

Do you think that middle Earth could have been some type of Pangaea? I mean You don't here of any other continents or anything. And all those different races, with there own languages living there in peace. If any of you are familiar with Pangea please give me your opinion.

Yeah, the whole pre-mesozoic dilly-dally... that probably wasn't Tolkien's aim, but there may be some indirect mention of it in a private letter or something... it's an interesting comparison, but I don't see any more evidence than M-E being mostly one solid piece of land...

Do tell me if I'm wrong.

Other continents are mentioned here and there.

before I read the books 9 yrs ago and was hearing about middle-earth here and there from my friends, I honestly thought that it was a continent on the inner side of a hollow earth and the core was its sun.

No. Middle-Earth is only half of Arda, what about Valinor on the other side?

After Valinor was removed from the Circles of the World 'Middle-earth' meant the whole Earth and the word can still safely be used of our world today, so I am inclined to think Middle-earth is not Pangaea. Perhaps there is some parallel between Pangaea and Almaren, the original dwelling place of the Valar on Earth.
