LOTR "The Movie"

Are Gimli and Legolas in the upcoming movie? I for one enjoy the development of their friendship through the novel. The idea of telling the story without them seems to leave an empty spot in the tale.

Actually...

I heard that Arwen is replacing Legolas, and Fredegar Bolger replaces Gimli.

*shocked, supprised, amazed, stupified* Wayfarer! How could you even think about being so mean to a newcomer! If you don't behave you'll be sent to the Lockholes!

Yes, they are in it.

PS, I am joking, btw, Wayfarer.

Thanks for the many responses, I may actually go to the movie after all. Otherwise it was time to find the producers and taking ax in hand hew them down about six inches from the top.

Yikes! This guy is intense! Personally, I think that Leg and Gim are the most pathetic characters in the book.

"Pathetic"? How can you call characters from such opposite and racially hostile backgrounds pathetic? The development of a life long (perhaps beyond) friendship as strong as theirs is one of the many very subtle sub stories to be found in the tale. Look beyond the simple surface of Elf and Dwarf and you may change your mind.

As for myself I never appreciated Legolas's comments regarding being forever restless once he heard the cry of a gull until I myself spent two years at sea. Now I am forever torn between my love of the deep mountains and the open ocean.

Welcome Jo!

I just can't stand the fact that Boromir is being cut out. I mean, he's an important character! Oh well, at least Bombadil is still in there.

What, no Boromir? Where will the example of a proud and good man being turned by evil to do its bidding come in? I know I expect too much in a movie, but have they cut all the great story lines that reflect in our own lives out and kept only the excitement and heroic parts? Will we not even have words of wisdom from the Gaffer? Augghhhh! (sorry about the plagerisem Charlie Brown)

"Where is that axe? Legolas what did you do with my favorite axe? Dratted elf always tiding up the place and putting away my weapons. I should have listened to Dad and married a wealthy dwarfette, lived in the mines and spent my time making useful tools and drinking with the other guys. But oh no, I had to move in with Twinkle Toes and do the woodland scene. If I find that axe I may just go cut down some linden trees for spite."

LOL!

Jo El, Dylan was being sarcastic there. Like I was earlier (with gimili and legolas)

It's just funny because he so rarely does stuff like that, whereas I do constantly.

BtB... legolas was incredibly masculine, according to tolkien. He's not a moriquendai, after all.

You have the advantage of being familiar with each other. I alas am new to this forum, however I did not take offense and hopefully my own attempt at humor was taken as such. Just how long have some of you been interchanging thoughts with each other?

Most of us here have been following the production of this movie for the past 2 years. I'd recommend looking through http://lordoftherings.net , the official movie site, before posting much more in this forum (at least until Dec. 19th)

I think they've been here since the board started...two years ago. They do that alot.

Let me get this straight...Boromir is in the movie, Bombadil is not, and neither is Pippin...right?

Yes, Pippin is in it too.

But I wonder, what was the actual relationship of Gimli and Legolas..

Well they are best friends I would believe, they have an strange friendship because its very odd for Dwarves and Elves to get on with eachother. Legolas even brought Gimli to Aman with him.

boromir IS in the movie but sean bean was hurt and has been replaced by william shanter

liv is being replaced by oprah winfrey

and gandalf is now being played by elton john ( they wanted to keep the actors of the same sexual inclination)

some of the board members are anti-homosexual
i wonder will they still like the movies knowing that Ian Mckellen is gay

I guess we really know what that "G" rune REALLY means now

i guess i just opened a big ole can of worms now

i hope the admins don't take offense

in the words of johnny storm "flame on" the double meaning fully intended
