You know Tess, she really does love you (as do I), and she's actually doing this for your sake. I'm sorry. It's hard when you're not used to it.

At least there's always the Entmoot!

Surely it's nice to learn at home? Get up later and not have to wake at 7am and trudge off to a cold, boring building two miles away? Most of us don't just have to THINK about it when we wake up; we have to GO there!

Trust me, you are fortunate. Reading textbooks at home isn't school, it's h/w. That can be a drag when you have school as well, but just h/w with no school would be just fine for me

I was homeschooled for a while, till my mom realized that the two of us couldn't work together. That's really what it all comes down to. Oh, and grammar is the most useless subject ever created.

I was homeschooled up to last year, when it got to hard for my mom to teach me sophisticated stuff, my little brothers unsophisticated stuff, babysit my OTHER little siblings, and maintain a semi-decent household at once. So I went to school, which is sometimes fun and many other times incredibly booorrringg.

I agree with the grammar thing. It's a waste of time, energy, and brainpower. And Latin grammar jusy makes by grammar-incompetent brain worse. How am I supposed to remember a hundred different endings that all somehow relate back to the same root???

My personal theory...grammar was made for non-smart people who don't know run from cat .

Hrmm, I've found that a study of latin grammar and vocabulary can make a study of the same subjects in english pointless.

I must disagree!!! Grammar is very important! i mean, there are some things you don't need to know. Like the difference between an independant and subordinate clause o.O BUT it is important. you need to know how to formulate a sentence! The thing is, they start teaching it too late, and mmost of our grammar is just automatic. We don't need to think "okay verb goes here, and that word is an adjective." but if you want to write intelligently, it's vital.

And if you thought that latin was tough, japanese is worse. The grammar is completely and totally different from western languages!!!!

anyway, i'm done ranting. sorry if i offended anyone!

No one smack me or any such, but I actually like grammar. I'm one of those annoying people who can't help but correct mistakes...

And really, it is useful. Makes you seem a lot smarter than you are...That's how I do it.

I'm HOMSCHOOLED too! You know if it gets on your nerves then tell her, I know I probably sound like a dork or something but talk to her and tell her, dont let it build up or else your relationship will go down the drain, take it from one who's been there.

Well perhaps a bit of reverse psychology is in order. Tell her everything about school, what you did in every period, in all its boring detail. "Well my teacher asked the class *** and **** answered ***, then *** threw a spit wad at *** and the teacher yelled *** to ***. Once the class settled down she told us to read **** on page ***.....and that was just the first half of the class. Then in the second half of the class she gave us a quick quiz on ***. I got them all right of course, but *** missed every other one so she made *** come to the board and write ***. Then in second period we......"

The first couple of days she will think she died and went to heaven to have so much info about your day, but I predict that by the end of the week she will be completely worn out.

Well that might work.

Too bad I do my school sitting at a table in the kitchen instead of a class room or else I'd do it

When it becomes obvious that the relationship between parent and child is being strained because of the homeschool relationship I think it is vitally important to change teh situation immediately. Find a school, any school, and go there, fast! Don't let it go as far as it did for me.

My former best friend is homeschooled. She hates her mom because of it. They didn't get along in the first place, so I don't see why they'd wanna be around eachother constantly like that.
