Beleriand destroyed?

In the maps that i see it shows Beleriand covered by the sea in the second age. I have just completed the Quenta. however i do not remember where it said Beleriand was flooded and how?

In that case I would suggest re-reading chapter 24: Of the voyage of EƤrendil an the War of Wrath a little closer and all will be clear. Well, maybe not all, but the fate of Beleriand should be in there.

It's a very brief mention and easy to miss. That part of the story never got a full treatment but, basically, the War of Wrath resulted in the change of geography
