Which LOTR edition is better?

I own some crappy LOTR books(i.e. torn up, ripped, etc etc). So I decided to go on a shopping spree and I've been wondering...which edition of LOTR is best for collection purposes? The 3-book version or the single book one? And, while I'm at it, which versions of the Hobbit and Silmarillion should I buy? Give me the best options, please.

For LotR - I'm quite fond of my single book edition with illustrations by Alan Lee. It's quite expensive, but very beautiful.

For the Silmarillion - definitely the one with illustrations by Ted Nasmith.

As for the Hobbit...don't bother... No, I have a green hard-cover one with illustrations that I think are by Tolkien that is quite nice.

EDIT: Oh! And don't forget to pick up the beautiful edition of Children of Húrin illustrated by Alan Lee.

Is the LotR three-book set that's illustrated by Alan Lee the same as the single-volume LotR that he illustrated, except in three separate books? Or are the images different?
