Myspace

Anybody? Anybody?

This is one of those multi-purose threads, generally for the discussion of Myspace.

First of all, I'm starting a contest. Whoever can think of the coolest Myspace profile name for me will win my eternal gratitude. I just registered spontaneously tonight, and then realized how horribly unimaginative I've become since I was a little kid. I need your ideas. I'll consider all suggestions. Voting is now open.

More importantly, what do mooters think of Myspace? I'd be surprised if you're unfamiliar with it, but here's a brief explanation. It's been called "a cultural phenomenon" and "the new hotness" in all seriousness. People in my age group either love it or hate it, it seems, though people on both sides of the argument have Myspace profiles. ( ) Some think that it's a corruptive, somehow corporate hypnotic power which should be resisted at all costs, while others say it's nice, and still others say it's a playground for sexual predators. It doesn't really interest me, but I guess I just started a profile because I'd prefer that to instant messaging. And it seems like the only real way to know what my friends are doing now, sadly.

Thirdly, who else here has a Myspace? What is your name there? Wanna start a new group: Entmoot?

EDIT: Oh yeah. Mine: Steve's Myspace. Obviously in its beginning stages, but I don't plan on making it very fancy anyway.

I don't have a myspace, but if there was an entmoot group I might join.

hmm cool user name how about bomb'space although thats not very imaginative its probably fairly original, or maybe your greeting could say "the name is bomb, james bomb"

man i'm sleepy, I doubt my imagination is up to thinking of a cool username. *yawns*

Well, then, we're in the exact same trouble.

I think the names are supposed to be like usernames, like "The Dude." or something. I might have taken that if it wasn't Millane's nickname here, even though he's been inactive long enough and no one would ever know but me. I don't know what I want it to say. I was trying to think of something that included "Steve" and expressed something about me at the same time, but I gave up. It made me sad to think about how remarkably, really brilliantly creative I used to be as a kid, and now how unimaginative I am. So I came to the moot like usual.

I've heard about myspace, but frankly I don't know what it is. Is it akin to a blog or LiveJournal? Or is it something bigger? (By the way, your explanation link goes nowhere.)

A Dude Named Steve?

I'm afraid I'm not terribly imaginative anymore, I always end up looking for names and such in the same theme.

I viewed someone's profile once, and somehow ended up getting a profile. Only I don't have much idea how to access my own page!

But, I've been to quite a few websites like that... lets see, at least 4. So, I'm actually a bit bored of them. But they can be fun.

Most of my RL friends have Myspace profiles. I don't care for it, personally. It's just a little too much to maintain; my own profile. I like the convienence of connecting with people on boards like the 'Moot: just log on, presto. Not to mention I'm not horribly computer-savvy, and making something vaguely visually interesting could be a chore. And since I'm essentially a lazy person, I don't want a Myspace profile. Like I said, it's my RL friends that have them, and if they want to talk to me, they can do it in RL. *shrug*

... How about 'Lil Steve, Uncle Steve, Saint Steve, Steve the Great, Steve McQueen.... just wracking my brain here for 'Steve' combinations. 'Stevenator'? lol!

I don't actually really like it. Everything you can do there you can pretty much do here, except without all the interesting things...

Here's something related:

If you guys have kept up with Nation news a bit, you might have heard about the case where a teacher had **x with one of her students, who was thirteen.
She was released on a bail, but her probabtion demanded that she stay away from internet contact with the boy. Well, apperantly she's back in the J-A-I-L for doing just that, via MySpace.com

I have a myspace account but I've never put anything on it at all. I blog on xanga occasionally, but soon I will no longer do that.

I will get a facebook account soon.
