One question about Elwing and Earendil...
Um...which is the boy and which is the girl? I haven't gotten far enough in the Silmarillion yet to find out so... please tel me!

You should be able to tell from the look of the names: Elwing is the "girl".
Have you ever read LoTR? Check out the Council of Elrond chapter, where Elrond states his lineage.
