LOTR EE movie marathon!

So has anyone watched all 3 EE versions back-to-back yet? I'd like to do it one of these days, but I don't know when - with 3 kids in the house, I know they would leave me alone during the crummy parts, then suddenly come up with an emergency during the good parts *sigh*

Are there any theaters that are doing this?

i was thinking the same... you're looking at somewhere between 10-12 hours, so you'd really need a lack of distractions... maybe in 15 years or so

I did it on Xmas day, but I slept in the middle, so I am not sure it counts as "back-to-back"
I also skipped two fighting sequences at Helm Deep. IMO the second movie improves enormously if you skip any two of the fighting sequences

Not likely.

I'd need a DVD player, and I only have that at school.

Fortunately, I also have the Internet at school.

Well... you can figure it out.

Don't you have an DVD player on your computer, Ellie? You could watch them there, though the experience is not the best maybe.

Last time I did that... I got bored halfway through and started to watch battle scenes with the music from Grease in the background...

So, it probably wouldn't work.

I watched the EE versions back-to-back except RotK - the extended version of RotK hadn't come out at that time so we had to do with the original version. Next year we'll watch all three EEs.
If you watch the movies with friends, it requires a little bit of planning before you embark on a LotR marathon . Like, when are you going to have lunch break? What about dinner? How do you tackle the problem with people's toilet breaks?

Right! Except by then I won't be able to stay awake that long! (I doubt I can now..... ) I bet the only family member who'd be interested in to doing this with me is my 8 year old son!

12-hour screening at my school

I went up to get dinner today and noticed by the dining hall "from 10 am to 10 pm LOTR (extended edition) screening in the Baobob Lounge, February 12th."

Is that worth spending my Saturday on? I think I'd go if I didn't have a comprehensive exam for graduation on the same day!

I heard roumor that a theater in minneapolis was going to show the three extendeds, and that it may happen in Seattle at the Film Festival.. which reminds me that I should go check this out....

Edit: This from The Seattle Cinerama

*SCREENING CANCELLED*
THE LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY

Because of circumstances outside our control, we regret the February 12, 2005 screening of The Lord of the Rings trilogy (benefiting Seattle Mental Health) has been cancelled. It is possible the event will be rescheduled at a future date.

REFUNDS: Ticketholders who purchased tickets at the Cinerama box office will receive a refund by visiting Cinerama's box office during their business hours of Monday-Friday, 1:00-8:00 p.m., and Saturday-Sunday, 12:30-10:00 p.m. Please have your tickets with you to exchange. If you purchased tickets online or via telephone, please go to the box office or call 206.441.3653 with your credit card and reservation number to arrange an electronic refund.

So i'm actually happy about this because I didn't hear of it initially. Now to hope for a reschedule.

i watched them all back to back to back with my friends after christmas.
we did it at night because everyone was too busy during the day. we started it around 9 30 and it took like 12 hours. i definately recommend doing it. it was cool cuz i hadnt seen the rotk ee yet as i had just gotten it for christmas so i was really trying to stay awake for that.

I'm doing it on my birthday too! I just need to find some friends who would actually agree to watch the whole thing with me. I'm working on convincing my cousins parents let her fly halfway across the country just to come to my birthday party.

... you all have more stamina than I. I have tried, many times, to watch all of the movies, but they give me headaches. I don't watch any TV at all, and very few movies, so when I do, my head starts pounding almost immediately.
