Breathe Deep
the toxic paint smell
you know the caffeine
has rotted your brain away

Breathe deep
gasoline fumes
even if you can’t
smell the gas anyway

Breathe deep, Breathe deep
I’ve been shut off thru
lungfuls of air
hyperventilation won’t stop the
autonomic functions that
I can feel

Breathe DEEP
and when you feel down and dead
just pop another pill
one more pinch of drugs
remember to breathe again

BREATHE deep
I can feel my body fill
liquid entering with every breath
no longer solid
Jelly, almost flavored

BREATHE DEEP
If you have time for
one last breath,
make it a good one
and you won’t have time to

Chill so much so I know I'll fall if I move an inch
Further
Noon says "skiing on sticks" and I laugh
And the ice laughs too

Voices of other girls carry over
And their words are not so different than my thoughts
Of love of people of this time

Somehow I'm gliding faster than I know to be
Safe
And not falling
Just skating in circles and happy

and I'm sorry every moment I can't see you again

lost words
only sounds left to make sense
and i'm more moved than i can say

this half dream half daze
half wanting to stay
asleep forever in this sound

do you know?

you whose sounds i hear centuries later
and whose words are mere shadows of meaning

did you ever guess
the music of words and sounds?

it wont let me go

and today i still hear like the first time i heard
these memories of sounds
more permanent than any scar and more wounding

i don't know my answer yet
but i'm working on the conversation
