The Old Hobbit Returns!

The little round door opened with a creak. The little hobbit peeped through the crack with one eye, saw the sun shining kindly on the meadows, and boldly ventured out into the South Farthing.

Howdy folks! Don't know if you noticed or not, but I've been gone for more than a week. Between a relapse of back trouble, and my free internet provider switching up on me, I've had a lot of trouble!

But I'm back!

The little fellow strained to hear the cheering throng....above the noise of the crickets.

Shows that you get what you pay for.

The little Rosie runs up to her favourite uncle with a big hug.
"I'm so happy you're back, so.... What did you bring me?"

The old hobbit looked at his favorite little niece and said, "For you I have brought a precious gift! Now close your eyes and hold out your hand!"

Into her eagerly extended palm, he placed a very precious object indeed!

It was round and golden and still hot!

Elbreth opened her eyes and saw a precious treasure beyond imagination!

Well, not quite. It was only an onion ring, but since that was even better than a Ring of Power to a hobbit, you can just imagine her surprise and delight when he gave her a bag full of the tasty morsels.

"Now be sure to share with your friends!" Gilthalion called out. But the hobbit lass was running like the wind and chuckling greedily to herself.

My back troubles go back to a time long ago and a place far away, when I was only just entered into my tweens. I was hiking through the wilderness and came upon a high banked stream. The bank I was on was taller by far than the one on the opposite shore. There was no where and no way to cross except by a leap. So I took a running start and leapt across the stream as far as ever I could and landed hard on one foot, jolting my spine at it's very base.

Since then, I've had occassional problems. Over the summer I spent an inordinate amount of time sitting before a computer. This gradually pulled my lumbar region just out of alignment enough so that it slipped. And then it slipped again on the other side. Nothing that time, heat, and medication couldn't fix. I'm almost 100% now.

Except for this lingering chest cold.

Ah, the sacrifices one has to make to attain nobility...
