Two more Holidays!

Happy Boxing Day in Canada!!

Joyous Kwanzaa! It starts today!

If anyone who celebrates one of these holidays, I'd gladly appreciate it. I know not one person who celebrates Kwanzaa.

Re: Two more Holidays!

Kwanzaa is a holiday started by black americans for......I guess because they felt like it! Anyway, I think its only about 15 years old and practically no one celebrates it.

Re: Two more Holidays!

It was made as a holiday for those who didn't celebrate Christmas or Chanukah. It has really no point, I think. It's just for those people who feel "left out".

Re: Two more Holidays!

I celebrate Boxing Day but I'm sure there has to be more to it than big sales at every outlet.

So I'm going to set out and try to discover the true meaning of Boxing Day...

Re: Two more Holidays!

Most black people I know who have ever bothered thinking about Kwanzaa find it offensive.
IP, it's just a silly Canadian excuse to have a holiday. Crazy Canadians

The American Thinker on the origins of Kwanzaa:
http://www.americanthinker.com/blog/...a_message.html

"As most readers here know, Kwanzaa was invented out of whole cloth in 1966 by Ron N. Everett, AKA Ron Karenga, founder of United Slaves, which fought with the Black Panthers over control of the African Studies Department at UCLA." ...

And, from 2006 and complaints about the Bush recognition ...

KWANZAA: HOLIDAY FROM THE FBI
by Ann Coulter
December 27, 2006

(NOTE: This is an updated version of a column by Ann Coulter that first ran six years ago in December.)

"President Bush's Kwanzaa message this year skipped the patently absurd claim of years past that: "African-Americans and people around the world reflect on African heritage during Kwanzaa." Instead, he simply said: "I send greetings to those observing Kwanzaa."

More African-Americans spent this season reflecting on the birth of Christ than some phony non-Christian holiday invented a few decades ago by an FBI stooge. Kwanzaa is a holiday for white liberals, not blacks.

It is a fact that Kwanzaa was invented in 1966 by a black radical FBI pawn, Ron Karenga, aka Dr. Maulana Karenga. Karenga was a founder of United Slaves, a violent nationalist rival to the Black Panthers and a dupe of the FBI." ...

Is Boxing Day a holiday especially dedicated to the pugilistic brethren?

It's basically just the day after Christmas. It arose, I believe, from the upper class custom of boxing up the leftovers of Christmas dinner and giving them to the servants the next day.
