Mel Gibson's Jesus movie

Well, it takes some balls (and money) to do something like this...

Huh. I'd like to see that. Even if I couldn't understand it. Anything in it's original language is far more authentic.

If he could maintain his goal to keep it without subtitles under the pressures of the movie industry, it could turn out to be a very, um, interesting movie. But I mean that in a good way cause I would really like to see him pull it off.

I know that I am definitely looking forward to this. Crucifixion was a horrible way to die (not to mention the flogging etc.), and often Jesus movies tend to "tame" that; but Christ is not tame, He is the only-begotten Son of God, immeasurably untamable, and it is a crime how often we Christians allow ourselves to forget that.

From what I understand the movie does have subtitles. Even though I admire Mel Gibson for doing this movie, I'm not going to see it.

Funny how most people enjoyed "Little Buddha" and other such movies but this one seems to rub them the wrong way simply because it depicts the suffering etc. involved. IMO it will be like watching a radio show. Your mind fills in the narative and I feel it will be quite moving.
Now if only a theatre within a reasonable radius of my location will show it.

It's not that I don't like the subject matter because I am a born again Christian. But I was in a car accident two years ago and my wrist was shattered. On a very microscopic level I understand what Jesus did for me. That and the movie is more graphic than I can handle.

Sparticus! ~ great biblicalish epic classic

this movie should be interesting... though i remember some debate about it blaming hebrews for the death of christ or something of that sort... maybe he changed this part

considering the subject matter, if well-filmed, subtitles shouldn't be necessary... i'd enjoy seeing it the first time without them to see what it was like

its because hollywood is so close minded about christianity.
Hollywood is open minded about everything-but when it comes to christianity, they dont want to hear it.
Mel, I'm sure is sick of it.

the flip side to this is that he might never be offered an acting job in hollywood after this.

Well, that would be stupid of hollywood. wouldnt it?
There have been plenty of Jesus movies.
Ben-Hur was a jesus movie, and it won thre best pic oscar.
but for some reason, the fact that this particular movie with the christ, "Le Pasion De La christu"(French is really bad, os its probably not accurate) was directed by a famous and beloved actor makes hollywood mad. To realize that one of thier big stars is not on thier side on the subject of religion is, I'm sure, for them a big deal.
Ever noticed that in most interviews, celebrities say the same trhing as others did? "Reach for your dreams".
Its all a part of hollywood's real programme.
its like in school, if you want to be popular, you have to become cool like the "higher" people.
Mel obviously is quite independent, and doesnt care what hollywood thinks.

Here is the latest trailer for this movie:

The Passion of The Christ

'Et Eärello Endorenna utúlien. Sinome maruvan ar Hildinyar tenn' Ambar-metta!' - And those were the words that Elendil spoke when he came up out of the Sea on the wings of the wind: 'Out of the Great Sea to Middle-earth I am come. In this place will I abide, and my heirs, unto the ending of the world.'

'Then Tuor arrayed himself in the hauberk, and set the helm upon his head, and he girt himself with the sword; black were sheath and belt with clasps of silver. Thus armed he went forth from Turgon's hall, and stood upon the high terraces of Taras in the red light of the sun. None were there to see him, as he gazed westward, gleaming in silver and gold, and he knew not that in that hour he appeared as one of the Mighty of the West, and fit to be father of the kings of the Kings of Men beyond the Sea, as it was indeed his doom to be; but in the taking of those arms a change came upon Tuor son of Huor, and his heart grew great within him. And as he stepped down from the doors the swans did him reverence, and plucking each a great feather from their wings they proffered them to him, laying their long necks upon the stone before his feet; and he took the seven feathers and set them in the crest of his helm, and straightway the swans arose and flew north in the sunset, and Tuor saw them no more.' -Of Tuor and his Coming to Gondolin

I saw it in school many years ago, think I remember it as quite good though!

I hope there´s nothing in the rumours of blaming the hebrews for the death of Jesus, I think this world has had enough anti-semittism and bearly needs a new trigger for it.

I think this film might be very interesting if pulled of well, but I don´t think it will come to the Azorean theatres in a good year. But I´ll definitly see it when I come back to Norway.

I think I would prefer to see this film with subtitles, but as long as you know the story well(as very many do), it shouldn´t be impossible to watch without it.
