Pet names

Anteater made a comment in another thread about having a pit bull named Frodo. That reminded me of a pair of kittens I got for number two fiancee. We named them Merry and Pippin. That got me to wondering how many other people have had pets (or I suppose siblings) named after a character in LOTR.

Any Saurons out there?

Re: ...

Oh man. I'd get a horse just for the sake of calling it Shadowfax.

Re: Cat Monster

one of the guys from Led Zeppelin had a dog named Strider - whether that's a Tolkein reference i don't know...

i have 5 cats, & i'm baginning to wonder whether having 5 balrogs around would be any less chaotic & destructive. and i too know a guy named Gandalf.

Re: Cat Monster

Knowing about Led Zep's love of Tolkien, obvious by some of their lyrics, I'd bet the dog was named after Strider.

At a cat club that I am at I saw someone had a cat named Frodo . I haven't asked if they got the name from LOTR but I assume that they did.

Re: Cat Monster

my family just acquired 2 hamsters - i'm thinkig of naming them biter & frodo. biter is pretty obvious, & frodo has 3 legs - the other was bitten off.

Re: Pet names

I know a girl who has a black cat named Arwen and a golden retriever named Galadriel.

When I get a golden retriever, I'm going to name him Finrod.

Re: Pet names

I once had a white car (Dodge Dart) that I nicknamed 'Shadowfax', but I suppose that doesn't count.
