Drawings by Tolkien found

Ah, the benefits of putting your library in order, you never know what might turn up again, like more artwork by Tolkien.

I always loved Tolkien's watercolours. They look deceptively simple, but they're so very neat and elegant.

Although to actually see these new finds, I reckon we'd have to buy the book.

Thanks for posting this Earniel. I agree, I like his style. The long horizontals feel like they are influenced by Oxfordshire countryside and give a sense of distance and scale.

I've seen the book in question since then but I didn't get the chance to look inside and see how the new-found drawings looked. Unfortunately the price was a bit too much for me for a second-hand copy. But I have to say this something I'd be rather tempted to buy because I like his artwork so much.
