I recently had the honor of introducing

The Hobbit to a new reader. *happy sigh*

Halfway through The Unexpected Party, he turned to me and said, "This is FUNNY."

Good to hear!

I still haven't gotten any of my kids to read 'em all the way through yet.

My sister of 8 years old began to read it after seeing the animated movie. She's halfway through now and she told me; When I finish it, can I start reading LOTR?" hehe^^

I tried to get my book club to read LOTR, and I was the only one that finished it!
As far as the Hobbit goes..... 2 people! Woot!

I got my nephew to start reading it, but he has yet to finish it.

I did get a coworker to read it. She loved it and asked to borrow LotR

Awesome!! I'm taking a class in September about CS Lewis and JRR Tolkien and I'm going to be reading the Hobbit and LOTR. i'm thinking about reading The Hobbit to my younger brother, though my mom doesnt know about that, seeing he gets easliy scared. But i told her that its most certainly not scary, since she dont like fantasy and didnt read the books.

My son read it for his freshman English class; he said that he liked it. Maybe we will watch the animated movie soon. Peace and goodwill.

The Hobbit does tend to be a whole lot more readable than LotR - a little less complex and epic.

I've been reading The Hobbit to my six year old brother - he seems to be enjoying it, although the plot is confusing him slightly. He wants to learn to read by himself so he can get through it quicker. He's also asking a lot of questions about LotR.

So nice to know that we're bringing him up right.
