this started in the anything post, and i want other peoples opinions. is batman a superhero.

personaly i think he isnt. he has no super powers like superman or spiderman.

Definitions . . .

Super - Anything above or beyond the usual capacity or limit of an object's or person's ability.

Supra - The optimal end of the spectrum. The peak performance level of an object's or person's potential.

Batman is a suprahero. In theory, everything he does can be performed by any human being. Unlike superman, who's power reach far beyond the human spectrum.

Bu the is still a normal human being.n He is just well trained in the arts of martial arts and fighting and crap. He also is so rich that he can afford gadgets and stuff. So he is a superhero but not a super being hero. and shouldnt this be in the entertainment folder

i don't think batman qualifies as a superhero. he's just a rich guy with cool gadgets, a neat old butler dude,and likes to fight crime. a little like james bond.
and superman is an alien.

That's my point. He is nothing more than a normal human being. He has no special powers or anything of that nature so in the strictest and most literal sense he would not be a superhero. All of the things that he does can also be done by any other human being.

Anyone read the Watchmen? They were considered to be superheroes, and they didn't have 'powers' either.

So did anyone read my post in the Xmen thread? I pointed out that their powers were always referred to as their "mutations" in the movie. Was that done in the comic? If so, I imagine it was to differentiate it from superhero powers (although I have to say some of them had superhero powers, whether they want to admit it or not), to make them more like everyday people, rather than indestructable superbeings.
I vote that Batman is just based on the number and calibre of criminal he defeated.
