Elijah Wood - a bit of a weirdo?

OK, so I've kind of started this thread just to wind up all you mad EW fans
But I was talking to someone about FotR the other day and he said he would have loved the film more except EW bothers him 'because he looks really weird'.

Thinking about it, I can kind of see what he means (not as weird as Pippin, but he's peripheral). Same sort of thing as, say, Julia Roberts. You either find her large mouth really attractive or you think you'd rather snog a hippopotamus

Come on then, defend the ugly old git!

I have a new sport - it's called EW-fan-baiting...

Okay, I'll bite...

I disagree.

Next?

Oh, as for Julia Roberts, last time I saw a mouth like that it had a hook in it...what an overrated plain broad. If she was never cast in another film it would be too soon.....

A moral of the whole (after the primary symbolism of the Ring, as the will to mere power, seeking to make itself objective by physical force and mechanism, and so also inevitably by lies) is the obvious one that without the high and noble the simple and vulgar is utterly mean; and without the simple and ordinary the noble and heroic is meaningless." What? What's all this? Gerbil, bropous, shame on you! As if I (or RogueElf) would ever, EVER do anything violent to a fellow Mooter simply because of a difference in opinion . . . *surreptitiously sticks mysterious ticking lump into Gerbil's belt*

Besides, I'm not about to be baited by a rodent. And hey, if EW's 'really weird looking', call me weird any day!

Anyway, disliking (or liking) a film because of the actors' looks is a bit shallow, IMHO.

[Biting tongue and hand and any other convenient appendage....]

Extra helping of double standard, anyone? *wry grin*

Well, if you want to get serious about this you may get more than you've bargained for. At the merest signal, I can send Rogue, Samwise, Feraway, and of course myself launching into girl rants galore . . . believe me, it's not pretty. Either you'll come around to our way of thinking or you'll get so fed up with us that the very mention of EW and even LotR will make you want to vomit. Choose well, my friend.

BTW, thanks bropous for disagreeing to begin with and thanks Tesseract for your confidence in us EW-fangirls. Unfortunately, I am not familiar with the expression "a helping of double standard" (???).

EW is a strange looking fellow (IMO), although his appearance doesn't bother me, as such. furthermore in my opinion as a female, i don't think he's attractive... at all.

Oh, I don't find his looks detract from the film.
Far from it - hobbits should not just be small humans.

But as a real-life human he's a bit on the odd side, that's all

Guess I can't argue with that. He is a bit strange looking . . . maybe that's why I like him so much. In any case, I think he is VERY attractive, the more so because he isn't your ordinary blond beach-hunk.

I think EW's slightly off-beat looks work real well in playing a hobbit. Whoddaya want, Brad Pitt or Mel Gibson?!?! In that case, I want Jennifer Aniston to play both Arwen AND Galadriel.

Oh, FrodoFriend...

Re: Your previous post.
On behalf of blond beach hunks everywhere (or was that bleached-blond punks?), we resent that statement. (Gee, hope I didn't include a photograph in my profile, in case anyone wants to see if I'm lying...)

ragamuffin,
My sincerest apologies. I have, of course, the utmost respect for blond beach-hunks everywhere, no more than for bleached-blond punks and beached blond skunks (say that three times fast!). I was only referring to the peculiar breed of beach-hunks whose minds seem to have been bleached along with their hair; naturally, you are far too high in my esteem to be counted among these. In light of this, I'm sure you understand why I find Elijah Wood's dark hair, abnormally large eyes, and air of quiet intelligence appealing.
