Not exactly a battle scene, but it's in the build up to one:
When the Nazgul on Weathertop slowly unsheathe their swords getting ready to attack Frodo.

Of course, the Rohirrim's charge in the Pelennor fields

And in the battle at the Black Gate when Aragorn turns to Gandalf and says "For Frodo" and then charges.

The charging scene of the Rohirrim on the Pelennor Fields in ROTK.

But Aragorn VS. Lurtz holds a soft place in my heart.

I think the Osgiliath vs. Orcs in the ROTK was awesome!
P.S I GOT AN AVATAR AND I KNOW HOW TO GET ONE!

Well it's not really a battle scene, but I digged the scene where Saruman & Wormtongue look out over the army - Saruman with his staff and W with his blown out candle - and a tear leaks from W's eye. Stunning.

That was definitely one of the highlights of TTT for me. Wormtongue's emotion came through very well.

But I still reckon the Gandalf vs Denethor fight was the best, if a little quick.

Now that you mention it, yes it was cool. Denethor was such a cool character, very unlikable.

Gimli

I also liked the one with Saruman and G.W. in the ROTK EE AND THE Mouth of Sauron in the ROTK EE. Also when the Rohan dudes go against the Haradrim (elephant people)

Aragorn vs. Lurtz is the ultimate duel. (That and Eowyn vs. Witch-King)

Ultimate battle scene: that awesome charge of the Rohirrim @ Pelennor. It was like Helm's Deep charge times ten.

best fight

1 Eowyn, when she yells at the vulture like whitchking. She is just so overcome with grief and anger. She could care less if she lives or dies. The one thing she knows is that filthy nazgul is not going to to touch her uncle/ fallen king. That kind of single mindedness is very powerful. (Take the buisness end of this sword you manwhitch.)
2 When Boromir dies. P J/ Tolkien humiliates him by having grubby urk kill him off. Thats like Jordan losing a game of one on one to a cyo hoop player. Those guys are a dime a dozen. We're talking about the toughest guy in Gondor. He gets wasted by a Urk who walks up to him like he's the baddest man on the planet. We're talking about a guy who was hatched a week ago. That's brutal.

Huh? In the book, Boromir was killed by Uruk arrows. PJ did it just like that in the movie.
