ROTK : EE version Mooter reviews!

Finally bought the EE v. of ROTK….I have been waiting to purchase it because it is the last film (errr, EE at least) for me to view ‘first time’ so I waited till this winter when I’d be starved for entertainment. It was worth the wait for the most part.

Enjoyed: (not in order)

1. Merry offering his sword (should have been included in the theatrical v. !)
2. The ‘discussion’ with Saury and his death by Wormy (nod to book)
3. Path of the Dead
4. The ensuing fight with PJ and his crew aka corsair sailors
5. Mouth at the Black gate (just cool creepy)
6. Faramir and Pip’s little moment
7. When bro finds sis with uncle by the WK (well done)
8. Strider helps cure (house of healing with Liv singing)
9. Faramir gets the girl (cool garden view)

Hated:

1. Still no war in the Shire
2. Sam still isn’t ring bearer (but he is in the book)
3. No wild men with their ancient road to help lead Theoden to battle in secret
4. Denathor’s madness is not explained in the movie
5. Denathor’s 300 yard dash to the cliff edge
6. Gandalf’s staff breaking by WK
7. Gandalf’s inability to discern the truth from the Mouth
8. Gandalf’s coughing and hacking from smoking (just not interesting)
9. No return to Bree (but so much was already skipped there anyway..gripe gripe)


But….I enjoyed the long flick and killed a weekend with the viewing of just the film, then with the cast commentary, then both appendix’s

Note: cry cry cryed with the Strike Out short and story…..good for PJ for including it.
