The Secret Diary of God

God's diary entries deal with biblical events such as the Creation, the fall of Lucifer, Moses and the Israelites, as well as apocryphal matters such as the disappearance of the dinosaurs, God's chess games with Confucius, and the fact that the fateful tree in the Garden of Eden is actually a lemon tree, which Adam and Eve eat after the Devil provides them with a bottle of tequila! Intelligent, light-hearted and zany. (review on Kalahari.net)

This is a book written by a South African author / singer (Koos Kombuis). Sounds hilarious as it is a satirical look at the events that shape our lives & placing it in a religious context (Kombuis is not a religious man, in fact he has always had quite a problem with the strict doctrines). It is sort of like a soap opera taking place in heaven.

In this book God becomes "human" and there are all kinds of problems going on which eventually lead to a democratic election in heaven where the people have to decide who is right - God or Satan. There is also a funny part where Sigmund Freud psycho analyses God & eventually attempts to convince him (God) that he doesn't exist...............

BTW - Karl Marx plays quite a prominent role too........

Anyway, this book has made it's way to my "must read" list. It sounds quite refreshing to say the least. So if any of you want to have a go of it, it will be released internationally too (I think sometime after April)
